• Compared to the PE material, the flexibility of PP may be slightly poorer. So major manufacturers push raw material manufacturer to improve the PP material with higher cost.

PP/PE/PP type battery separator

Преимущества:

• It combines the high strength and heat resistance of PP and the good flexibility and pore-closing characteristics of PE.
• It can better adapt to the changes of the battery under different working conditions, especially when the temperature changes greatly, the pore-closing performance of PE helps to improve the safety of the battery.

Disadvantages:
• This structure is protected by a patent from one company. You might not get the approval to produce it, or you might need to pay a high cost for the approval due to the patent.

• The manufacturing process is relatively complex, and the cost is higher.
• Due to the multi-layer composite structure, there may be a potential risk of interlayer separation in the long-term use process.
• Compared to the pure PP separator, its air permeability and other properties may require more fine-tuning.
